Stelkom’s optic-fibre network covers over 2,500km of optic-fibre lines containing 36, 48 or 96 single mode fibres installed in lightning conductors (OPGW) or special cables wrapped around OPL (OPWR). The type and quality of the fibre is compliant with the ITU-T G.652 standard. Stelkom regularly expands its optic-fibre network and upgrades it with new connections and active updated equipment.
International-level connectivity in communication networks is provided through close co-operation with telecommunication service providers in the region.
Major technical characteristics of the optic-fibre network:
- The network is constructed of optic fibres and is therefore extremely reliable with a high degree of availability.
- The network is supported by the latest transfer technologies, such as SDH, IP MPLS and DWDM.
- Uninterrupted power supply for the 48 V DC (RPS) and 230 V (UPS) communication systems is provided.
- Power supply systems are remote-controlled.
- All critical parts of communication systems are duplicated.
- High-quality synchronisation source is ensured by caesium frequency generator.
- Network management, control and maintenance are performed 24/7.
